Animal Crossing: New Horizons – How to Use Amiibo

Remember when Animal Crossing amiibo were unpopular and considered a bit of a failure? Nope! Not anymore. Now they are part of what is sure to be one of the biggest games of the year. And they offer exciting rewards for those who collect the figures and plastic cards. But while they're there, the game doesn't require you to use them like previous amiibo-enabled titles. So, to explain, here's how to use amiibo in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

How to use amiibo

The first way to use these old Animal Crossing amiibo is to talk to Harv. Who is Harvey? He is a random villager who will occasionally show up and reside with Resident Services. Anyone who shows up here is usually an important part of the game, which is also true for this guy as he's one of the best ways to use up your amiibo figures and cards.

Talk to him and he'll tell you about Harv's Island, accessible anytime from Dodo Airlines. Simply head to the island and you'll find Photopia, where Harv will take photos of you with one of your amiibo characters. At least that's sort of them. They're not really there, but you get a cool picture of them. You'll see what I mean when you try it out, and all of the photos can be purchased as posters in Nooks.

The next way to use amiibo involves camping, a returning feature from previous games. This unlocks as soon as you upgrade Resident Services and is a great place to meet new villagers. And by using amiibo, you can bring specific ones to the campsite to invite them to live in your town. It's also a great way to get more villagers.

And here's how to use amiibo in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
