Bravely default 2 is around the corner and will be released on February 26 for the Nintendo Switch. Square Enix continues this beloved franchise that dates back to the 3DS, with an improved engine, new characters, new locations and more. We follow Seth and company this time around, someone who seems to have lost their memories and found themselves washed up near a shore. With this setup ready, without seeing any actual familiar faces from previous entries, everyone should have a question. Is it a sequel to Bravely Default or Bravely Second? Let's find out.
Is Bravely Default 2 a sequel to the original?
Simply put, Bravely Default 2 is do not a direct sequel to the first game. Bravely Second: End Layer is the true continuation of the series, set 2 years after the events of Bravely Default. The Society begins a quest to rescue a former party member, Agnes, while imprisoned in a flying fortress.
There's none of that game found in Bravely Default 2, as we're now in a whole new world, with a whole new set of playable characters and enemies. The story is of course completely different too, however, all the basic mechanics that were introduced in its predecessor are of course here. The Brave and Default system makes a comeback, alongside a plethora of new jobs and quality of life features like x4 battle speedup. Everything you loved or hated battle-wise is back, but story-wise, you can easily jump into this one without a single idea of what the Bravely Default franchise is all about.
Bravely default 2 set to release on February 26, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
