Mario Party Superstars is the second Mario Party game to land on Nintendo Switch. This is a compilation of some of the most popular minigames from the last ten mainline games in the series with sets from the Nintendo 64 era of the franchise. Since this is a new game, many are wondering if this game will get post-launch support. Here's what we know.
Will there be DLC for Mario Party Superstars?
At the time of this writing, there was no mention of DLC for Superstars. It's not all bad news and it's not entirely out of the question. Many other Mario games of this genre have had their fair share of post-launch content on the Nintendo Switch.
Games like Mario Tennis Aces and Mario Golf: Super Rush have had their fair share of significant updates in the form of post-launch DLC including characters and levels. Even Super Mario Party, despite receiving a rather lukewarm reception, received post-launch support that extended online functionality.
It would be a hugely missed opportunity for the game's long-term sales if Mario Party Superstars didn't receive any kind of additional content down the line, whether free or paid. Every mainline Mario Party game on home consoles has had at least 50 minigames. It's a pool of over 500 minigames to choose from.
Compare that to the 100 that are currently in the game. There's so much potential for any of them, especially from the GameCube and Nintendo 64 eras. They were the most popular choices of the top ten games in series.
The same goes for the boards and the characters too. The fact that there are only five boards and ten characters, especially in a compilation game, can make the game stale after a while. More characters add more personality, and the Mushroom Kingdom has a huge roster of choices that would be fun additions to Superstars.
Hopefully this game can get more content after launch, especially with the fact that online functionality was built in from the start.
