Minecraft has its fair share of items that can sometimes be confusing to get your hands on, and honeycombs are one of them, so we'll take a look at how to get them. These items have a few different uses and recently gained a pretty big one with the inclusion of copper blocks in the game. That means you'll probably want as many of them as possible and luckily for you, it's pretty easy to streamline the process.
How to get honeycombs
The first thing you need to do is find a honeycomb somewhere in the world. Plains and forests are where they primarily breed, so these are good places to start looking. Once you find one clinging to a tree, you'll need to be patient first, as the bees actually have to make the honeycombs before you can grab them yourself. The bees will come out of the nest and search for flowers to get pollen before returning to the nest to work on making the honeycombs. Eventually, the honeycomb will look like it's filled to the brim with honey, which means it's time to move on to the next step.
At this point, all you have to do is grab some shears and right click on the hive to drop honeycombs on the ground. However, this will make the bees angry, so be ready to run once you collect the honeycombs. However, you can keep the bees from getting angry by lighting a fire under the hive or placing a campfire below it. This will ensure that the bees will remain docile when harvesting from the hive, although it may cause the hive itself to catch fire or injure the bees when exiting the hive. So be sure to pay attention to this if you want to save the hive for later. These rules also apply to the honeycombs you can craft with your newly acquired honeycombs, so keep that in mind.
