Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin has received its first DLC update, and the beloved Palamute is the main protagonist. Debuting in the recent Monster Hunter Rise, this shinobi-like hound is now available for you to ride in Wings of Ruin as well. Just a few days after the game's official release, the Palamute will be a great addition to your Monstie roster, as it not only has great on-world abilities, but exceptional genes as well.
How to get Palamute in Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin
The process of getting a Palamute egg (yes, it looks like even dogs come from eggs in the Monster Hunter franchise), is quite different from most monsters you've found in Monster Hunter so far. Stories 2. You can only find it at the first of its eggs, in cooperative missions via multiplayer. Not through a mission though, as there is a requirement.
Visit our friend Melynx Inc., the black Melynx who gladly accepts all your bottle caps, and from their sale items you should now be able to get a Palamute ticket. This is your ticket to start a special co-op mission, which has a chance of spawning a Palamute Egg. It costs 8 bottle caps each, normal tickets i.e. the rare variant cost 50 caps and gold tickets cost 100 caps each. The difference between all of this is that you can access a higher rarity Expedition, in which you can find Palamutes with better genes overall. If you don't mind Genes and just want a Palamute, normal should be fine.
After purchasing your ticket, go to your quest board. Go to multiplayer and from there you should be able to see a special expedition with a yellow star attached, mentioning the Palamute. Select it and you will then be asked to spend one ticket per ride. Use it, and you should be good to go.
In this expedition, in the company of a friend/random person or an offline NPC, you will walk through a field with three nests, and each nest has a chance to give you a Palamute egg. There are six different elemental versions of Palamutes, so the more Tickets you spend and the more Expeditions you go on, the more likely you are to get them all. After catching the egg, which has a very unique design, go back, hatch the eggs and enjoy your new dog.
