Pokemon's 25th Anniversary Is Coming Soon And Big Things Are Teased

It officially strikes on February 27, 2022

Pokemon! Catch them all. I have! Leave me alone!

I can't believe it's been 25 years since the first generation of Pokemon debuted. Well, it will be 25 years in February 2022 in Japan. For me, the 25th anniversary will be September 2023, when I first went to Toys 'R' Us and purchased a copy of Pokemon Red. An eight hour session later and I knew it was something special. My jumper cable came in handy that year.

We all have different memories for Pokemon (maybe it goes to the movie with a date and acts cool when you haven't gotten the Mewtwo trading card bonus). Or maybe you don't! Either way, The Pokemon Company is celebrating next year. Teased during the broadcast edition of Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade of All Places (where Pikachu debuted as a tank in 2001), the firm revealed the new logo: a giant Pikachu face with the numbers "2 and “5” like her red cheeks. Cute and efficient.

While The Pokemon Company doesn't know what to expect right now, they're calling it a "very special celebration." Pokemon Unite's release could likely take place on February's birthday (remember that one?), along with many other announcements. A timed tease at E3 of a new main entry (or more Sword/Shield DLC) wouldn't be out of the question either.
