Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl: Are there Mega Evolutions, Pokémon Alolan or Dynamax? Elliott Gatica | November 18, 2022 Will Generation IV remakes have the evolutions of later games?

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are surely the faithful recreations of the original Nintendo DS games of 2022. They have been adapted for modern play, with many new features that have been staples of later titles as well as many quality of life changes made. for that. However, with generations after the original Sinnoh, we've seen Mega Evolutions become a thing in X and Y, Alolan Pokemon in Sun and Moon, and Dynamax Pokemon in Sword and Shield. In later remakes like the Let's Go series, you were able to use Alolans and Mega Evolutions. Here we will discuss the contents of the Diamond and Pearl remakes regarding the features of the new games.

Are there Mega Evolutions, Alolan Pokemon or Dynamaxes in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl?

Unfortunately, there aren't any sort of temporary Pokemon evolutions like the aforementioned ones in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. While these remakes have data-saving incentives for other games like Mew and Jirachi, it seems Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are sticking to being as faithful as the originals. At the time, none of these unique Pokemon evolutions and types existed in 2022.

That's a little disappointing given that the Let's Go, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire games all got some form of new temporary evolutions. These games are set in eras before any of these features even existed.

So far in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, nothing is really unusual in terms of story and cutscenes. There really isn't any sort of new lore or special item that even remotely speaks of Mega Evolutions. There are Generation IV Pokemon that have had the ability to undergo Mega Evolution like Lucario, Garchomp, and Gallade to name a few.

Conveniently enough, Sinnoh remakes will be receiving Pokémon Home support in the future. What abilities it will have are TBD, but given that transferring Pokémon from the Let's Go games is a one-way street, we can expect the same here.

Shiny Diamond and Shiny Pearl Pokémon are now available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
