The countdown to Scarlet Nexus is quickly coming to an end, to the excitement of many avid gamers. Soon we will be united with the main characters, Kasane Randall and Yuito Sumeragi, and their powers of psychokinesis.
With little else to do at the moment, but soak up the gameplay videos in the meantime, let's take some time to discuss the different versions of Scarlet Nexus. In addition to the Standard Edition, there is a Deluxe Edition. The alternate version is no stranger to games. It's quite common for a premium consideration to be offered to those looking to get extra freebies for a slight increase in price.
The Scarlet Nexus Deluxe Edition isn't the smallest price gap we've seen between standard and deluxe copies, coming in at $20 more at $79,99. Before deciding whether or not this asking price is acceptable, let's break down what's included in the Scarlet Nexus Deluxe Edition.
Is the Deluxe Edition worth it?
Here's what's in the Scarlet Nexus Deluxe Edition for $79,99:
- The full game
- Combat outfit -Red-
- Digital soundtrack
- digital artbook
- Additional Attachment "The Others"
- 3x plugins to boost your stats
The Deluxe Edition includes some digital goodies, for those who like to browse the art of the game while listening to the soundtrack, and some in-game stuff. If you want to get the edge right off the bat, the added plugins will give you will help improve stats sooner. And if you're more into the color red, the included battle outfit set -Red- is sure to please over the mostly black default clothes worn by the cast.
Since Scarlet Nexus doesn't have a Season Pass, the Deluxe Edition doesn't bring anything in the way of post-launch content, not that we're aware of any such planned content. Typically, the higher price of deluxe editions is offset by the promise of additional gameplay, either at launch or in the future, but that's not the case here. What you see is what you get at launch. For $20 more, it can be a tough sell.
The pre-order bonuses are all up to you, whether you go for the standard or deluxe variant. Picking up a copy before the game launches later this month will grant the following bonuses:
- Additional accessory set "Shoulder Baki (11)"
- Special combat outfit -Audio-
- Additional accessory "Face Vision Seal"
- Additional accessory "Dreamcatcher"
Unless you're determined to get a copy of the soundtrack and artbook, the pre-order bonuses are better than the Deluxe Edition offers, in my opinion. However, you'll have to evaluate the digital extras on display here for yourself.
Scarlet Nexus will be released on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on June 25.
