The Ascent: How to Hack Items with Access Denied Message

Finding a hidden door or chest in The Ascent, only to end up with an “Access Denied” message, is painful to say the least. You might find it hard to go all the way to a new area and explore it, only to find that you can't access certain rooms or even open locked treasure chests with gifts inside. interior. For this reason, we're looking at how you can get around every object that gives you that haunting Access Denied response.

How to hack and objects that have access denied message in The Ascent

It's easy to figure out how to do it, but it's not really an easy thing to do. Or rather, it's easy, although time-consuming. First of all, the way to open all chests in the game and access all locked rooms or just open closed doors is through hacking. A cyberpunk game would be incomplete without at least some form of hacking, and The Ascent is well aware of that.

Hacking is done by simply pressing a button. On PC, you just need to click on “C” while on consoles, you have to hold down the respective button, which is “Y”. What these buttons do is they "throw" a bubble-like technique, which opens any locked object that is inside its AoE. However, there is a catch. You can't open every item you find, at least at the start of the game, because this hacking technique can actually be upgraded. And you know what it means to be upgradeable, the higher you lift it, the better chests and doors it can open.

In order to upgrade your hack, you actually need to upgrade your Cyberdeck. Cyberdeck is the console your character is holding when using the hack, which is visible for a brief moment when you press the hack button, and is treated like any other piece of equipment in your gear. You find new pieces that have higher stats, and the more of them you find, the greater your hacking and Cyberdeck skills become. There are also other ways to increase your hacking prowess, though they are tied to some story progression, which we will avoid mentioning here. Either way, all you need to know is that the better your Cyberdeck, the better your hack will be. Therefore, you will be able to open chests and doors with a higher ICE level, just by clicking this button. Don't rush to find ways to upgrade, because The Ascent is a big game, and those doors and chests have a reason to be locked. Give it some time though, and that "Access Denied" message will be just a memory.
