Call of Duty: Vanguard is finally here, and fans have been experiencing several lag and bursting issues while trying to enjoy multiplayer modes. Packet burst issue is the most common error, indicated by a red "Packet Burst" popup near the minimap. This leads to lag and rubber banding, which obviously isn't ideal for a game like Vanguard. Luckily, there are a few things you can do on your end to improve the connection. Here's how to fix packet bursts and other connection issues in Call of Duty: Vanguard.
Vanguard packet rafale correction
Currently, the most reliable way to fix packet bursts in Vanguard is to disable on-demand texture streaming. This is a setting that uses your internet connection to download information the game needs while you play, which naturally can interrupt your multiplayer gameplay. Here's how to turn it off:
- Open the Settings menu
- Go to the Charts tab
- Disable on-demand texture streaming
- Restart the game
A packet burst error occurs when packets of data that the game needs end up getting stuck between the server and your game. They all pass at once (a burst of packets) and this causes small lags. Disabling on-demand texture streaming can ease the strain on your connection, hopefully allowing for smoother, uninterrupted gameplay.
How to fix Call of Duty: Vanguard connection errors
If the above strategy does not work, you can also resort to the proven methods to improve your connection. Try these things to improve your Vanguard online experience:
- Switch to a wired connection
- Don't use a VPN
- Pause background downloads
- Restart your console
- Restart your router

Also, be sure to check if the Call of Duty: Vanguard servers are also experiencing issues. The game is still new and a ton of players are trying to log in and play every hour of the day. This can lead to server congestion, which of course leads to lag and connection issues.
Hopefully things will settle down over the next few days as player numbers stabilize and Sledgehammer Games adjusts to launch day traffic. Call of Duty: Vanguard isn't without other issues though, as camouflage challenges aren't being tracked for many players. There are plenty of other minor bugs as well, and the zombie community isn't too happy with the current state of survival mode either.
Call of Duty: The Vanguard is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
