At the start of their adventure in both Shiny Diamond Pokémon and Shiny Pearl Pokémon, players can choose between the fourth generation starters, Chimchar, Piplup and Turtwig. But can you get all the starter Pokemon in a single game? That said, here's where to catch Chimchar in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl so you can get the Fire Starter even after picking a different one at the start of your adventure.
Where to catch Chimchar in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
You can get Chimchar in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl in the Great Underground, specifically in Volcanic Cave, Typhlo Cave, or Sandsear Cave. One thing to keep in mind is that Chimchar will only appear after defeating the Elite Four and obtaining the National Pokédex. If you can't find the Pokemon in the areas, exit and re-enter, as this will reset any Pokemon currently in the area. To recap, here's how to find and catch Chimchar in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl:
- Defeat the Elite Four and get the National Pokédex.
- Go to the Great Underground.
- Go to Volcanic Cave, Typhlo Cave or Sandsear Cave.
- Go in and out until you find Chimchar in the area.
- After finding them, battle and capture the Pokemon.
After getting Chimchar, you can evolve them into Monferno by leveling them to level 14, and then into Infernape by leveling them up to level 36. That said, since you're already aiming for Chimchar, take the opportunity to also get Charmander, Cyndaquil, and Torchic, as they can all be found in the same areas and under the same conditions.
