Despite the odd name, Pokemon Shiny Diamond and Shiny Pearl have revived the series with an impressive makeover that makes the old new again in a nostalgic journey that improves on the originals in almost every way. Throughout the history of the series, there have always been recurring items and with Pokemon Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl, that concept hasn't changed.
The Knot of Fate makes an appearance here again and it's a great item to have as it ensures that any Pokemon that breed with it will pass on good levels to the resulting offspring. It's a great way to build a powerful roster quickly, whether you're playing against others or just trying to get as strong of a Pokemon collection as possible. Here's how to find the Fate Knot in Pokemon Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl.
How to Find the Fate Knot in Pokemon BDSP
To acquire the Destiny Knot, you need to go to Route 224 which you can access via Victory Road. The problem here is that you won't have access to this area until you get the National Pokedex. Once you acquire the National Pokedex, you will be able to acquire the Destiny Knot after a few steps.
To get the National Pokedex, you'll first have to beat the Elite Four and become Champion, so essentially you have to beat the game before the Destiny Knot is even a thought in your mind. Along with that, you also need to have a complete Sinnoh Pokedex. Professor Oak will then upgrade your Sinnoh Pokedex into the National Pokedex. You can now go on a journey to find the Fate Knot:
- First, when you get to Route 224, drive up to the beach.
- Keep right and follow the beach to the end and there will be two coaches, each located near a tree directly in front of you.
- You have the option to fight here if you wish, but it is not necessary to obtain the Fate Knot.
- After the fight or if you avoid them, go up the stairs to the left.
- The Fate Knot can be found in a Pokeball located in the upper right corner of this area.
What does the knot of fate do?
The Fate Knot serves two purposes. If you give it to a Pokemon to hold, then any Pokemon that attacks it has a chance to fall in love. The Infatuated status prevents afflicted Pokémon from attacking 50% of the time, so it's a nice item to have. The other more useful purpose of the Destiny Knot is to breed Pokemon, as any eggs produced by a Pokemon holding a Destiny Knot will inherit some of the parents' IVs.
