Yakuza: like a dragon draws heavily from JRPGs, especially Dragon Quest, and this has manifested in a working system, series first. Reminiscent of the aforementioned JRPG-related vocation system, Jobs offer different playstyles to experiment with.
The lovable leader, Ichiban Kasuga, and his ragtag group of misfits each have their own job, but they can be swapped out for one of many exciting new jobs when unlocked. Of course, the appropriate Character Level, Human Power stats (Passion, Kindness, Confidence, Intelligence, Charisma, and Style), and in some cases, Character Bond are required to access jobs. Be aware that the requirements change with each character.
How to change jobs
To be able to change jobs in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, players must upgrade to Chapter 5: The Liumang Man. Without diving into spoiler territory, there comes a point during this chapter where Ichiban and the team return to Hello Work in Yokohama to find employment so they can continue their investigation of a shadowy individual.
After talking to Ririka at Hello Work, the possibility of changing jobs will open up in the future. To change jobs, the player simply needs to return to Ririka and select from the available jobs. However, not all tasks will be unlocked from the start. Continue to build the team through general progression through primary and secondary missions (i.e. sub-stories) to improve stats. And don't forget to take the occasional trip to the Survive Bar to bond with your teammates to prepare them for future jobs.
Experiment with your team composition and find the combination of jobs that works best for you. You'll definitely need a strong party to get through the final chapter of Yakuza: Like a Dragon.
